Children and Teens

Children

Play is the natural way children communicate. Play therapy gives a space where a child can self-express and play out feelings. The goal is to have the child learn and become more aware of how he or she truly feels, thinks, and does, which can help the child function more smoothly and live in a more authentic way. Knowing how the child feels can help parents better relate to their child meeting their needs more accurately. I also encourage parents to be a part of the play when appropriate.

Being a teen can be stressful, demanding, and overwhelming. Feeling heard and understood by others is important. I have worked with teenagers extensively in day treatment, residential treatment, in schools, and in private practice.  I will work with you and your parents to determine what is causing the difficulties and we will make a plan together to address them.

Family & Parents

Family therapy addresses the relationship between family members and sees which ways of relating work and which ones could be more helpful. Being accountable for how one family member affects the other is necessary to address the family system.  Consideration the specific environment and by utilizing and honoring the special dynamics family members share. It has the potential to strengthen the entire family while addressing the specific difficulties one family member might face, empowering family members with tools to address the challenging behaviors.

Providing parenting consultation I can help you figure out how your behavior is affecting your child and ways in which you can make changes to help your child.

I can provide in-home or telehealth therapy. After meeting in my office we can see if in-home therapy would be beneficial. At this time I am only providing telehealth sessions.

Children and Teens

Helping children and teens to become more aware of their thoughts and feelings and being able to cope with them is important to emotional development and confidence. I will work with you and your family to figure out the cause of your difficulties, make a plan together to address them, and support you as you put your plan into action.
